When using a poly tarp to cover and store your boat consider the following reminders to maintain your tarp and protect your boat.

Always support the cover from underneath, preferably the entire length of the boat, so that rain and snow will not form puddles on top of the cover.
Cover any sharp edges such as cleats and windshields with a cloth rag to prevent tears in the poly tarp material.
Secure all tie down points snuggly! A tightly attached tarp is the best protection against wind damage, the leading cause of tarp failure.

In summary, even the most economical poly tarp can last many seasons if it is properly secured and avoids contact with sharp objects.
